Especially when leveling up new members of your team take into consideration where to level them. They are base stats gained when gaining experience.

TV values are a similar issue, though they are not RNG.

When capturing new Tems always take a look at SVs - those are RNG values that influence the base stats of a Tem and can make the difference in a 1v1 Is this how the game is supposed to play, or am I missing something? I really want to love this game but I find myself getting very frustrated because I constantly feel at a disadvantage. My Valash hits Nidrasil with Crystal Spikes and it does mediocre damage, Naolin's Valash then hits mine back with the same move and it does way more damage! My Banapi also loses over half its health to toxic ink when that's not even a move it's weak against! I'm just confused as to why I'm getting hit so much harder than I'm hitting. Despite hitting Naolin's Valash with an attack it's weak to it I barely scratch it. I'm using a Banapi because Valash is weak to fire, then my own Valash as it doesn't have any major weaknesses to Valash or Nidrasil. I've included a video of what I mean, fighting Naolin. As I've said, the levels of my Tem seem appropriate for the trainers I'm facing. I know that grinding and leveling up is a part of the game but I feel like I get steamrolled every battle and that I'm constantly on the losing side of a battle of attrition, only able to scrape by with balm, tonic, and revives. Sometimes my Tem are losing like half their health from a simple attack they have no weakness to! I can type-match my attacks and get 2x bonus damage and yet they're outdamaging my Tem without it! My Tem are all in the 40s or high 30s and I always try to plan battles out and match up types, but what I find is that the AI trainers have such strong Tem that they can often two shot my Tem even if they aren't of a type my Tem is weak against. Some examples of battles I've recently struggled with include Yareni, the 3rd battle with Max, and Naolin. By that I mean some of the Tem battles I've been up against recently feel as if the AI is constantly outdamaging me even when my Tem are either a higher level or the same level. I really love the story, art style, and I generally enjoy the gameplay, but I also feel as if the game sometimes doesn't feel fair. I've been playing Temtem for only about 23 hours, I'm currently in Quetzal.
